More girls ( and men ) now have regular manicures. Manicuring comes from the Latin word manus that means hand and cura that means care. Manicuring helps to improves the appearance of the hands and nails. Giving a manicure isn't hard when you know the steps.
- First remove the old polish. Dampen a cotton ball with nail polish remover. The sort of polish remover relies on your private preference. Press the cotton ball over the nail for 1 or 2 seconds to melt the old polish. Wipe delicately with the cotton ball on the nail beginning at the base of the nail to the tip this keeps old polish from smearing into the cuticle.
- Shaping the nail is the very next step. The nails should be filed into oval tips. Begin on the left hand with the tiny finger and aim towards the thumb. Hold the finger between your thumb and the 1st 2 fingers of the left hand. In the right hand hold the fingernail file. Slant the fingernail file so the filing is done generally to the under side of the nail. File each fingernail going from right to left, then from left to right from and corner to the center. On all sides of the fingernail, stroke in one direction only. Repeat the method on the right hand.
- Softening the cuticles is done by soaking the fingers in a tiny finger bowl crammed with soapy water. Finger bowl works rather well if you add some drops of mild dish soap. Fastidiously dry the hand by holding a tiny towel and place, the hand on the towel. Dry the hand while concurrently pushing back the cuticle and skin on each fingernail. Be very mild.
- By following the directions given on the cuticle remover bottle or tube apply cuticle remover. Carefully loosen the cuticle with an orangewood stick or cuticle pusher. Keep the cuticle wet while working, wash carefully and dry.
- By dipping a cotton-tipped orangewood stick in soapy water clean under the free edge of the fingernail and cleaning under the nail from the center outward to each side.
- Sometimes it's necessary to get rid of dead cuticle or hangnails with little scissors or cuticle nippers. Be extraordinarily careful when you do this.
- At the base of the nail apply cuticle oil or cream. Brush nails delicately in a soapy water with a downward motion. Dry hands and nails comprehensively. Next employ a terribly fine emery board. Wipe nails to get rid of any particles of cuticle or dead skin.
- Using long strokes apply base coat. Apply polish when the base coat is dry to a light touch. With strokes from the base to the tip Apply polish lightly. Excess polish on cuticle or nail can be simply removed with cotton tipped orangewood stick moistened with polish remover. Apply a seal or top coat. Brushing the seal or top coat around and under the tips of the nail will give the nail added protection.
- The last step is to apply lotion. This is often done if time authorizes. Nails must be totally dry. With light rubbing motion start at the wrists moving down to the fingertips.
